Episode #105 | How to Reach Your Full Potential

living your best life self-talk the bravehearted woman podcast

“The wealthiest place in the world is not the gold mines of South Africa or the oil fields of Texas. They are not the diamond mines of South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the planet is just down the road. It is the cemetery. There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential.”  Myles Munroe

IMAGINE the medical breakthroughs never invented or discovered! The skills, talents, and POTENTIAL never reached, lie there…dead!

To think that our gifts could be buried with us is a sad and sobering thought, and I hope it will never be said of you, my BraveHearted Sister, because your potential, your capacity for growth and development is incredible. All you have to do is say,

‘Yes!’   I want to make sure that I die empty

with my potential tapped and poured out.

3 Ways to Tap Your Full Potential

Identify Your Potential

Ask yourself these questions:

Am I doing everything I'm supposed to be doing on this earth?

Have I pushed myself to my limits?

Have I found my edge and beyond?

Am I accomplishing all I’m meant to accomplish?

Gaining self-awareness and a willingness to explore new opportunities are keys in identifying your potential.

When we were young, we automatically have a desire to explore. It's called autonomy. We start making our way away from mom and dad. We want to start exploring and hopefully, as a little toddler, exploration was encouraged. If it was, you most likely still have an adventurous spirit.

If you were shamed for venturing out, you might have lived the rest of your life looking through the glass window saying,

If only I could have. I wish I would've, but I'll never know.

I'm going to encourage you, BraveHearted Woman,

you can still have AUTONOMY,

you can still have INDIVIDUALITY,

AND you can still be cheered on & rewarded for exploring.

GET OUT THERE  and see what else you might be called to do.

Get that sense of wonder and curiosity back.

It's time for you to start IDENTIFYING!

What is your potential?

What are the things you can accomplish or do that will bring joy, honor, and glory to God?

You have seeds inside of you for every season of your life. You haven't experienced midlife before. This is your first time arriving and you haven't seen these seeds which are in you and meant to blossom. These seeds were given an assignment and a time ~ a kairos time (a supernatural appointed time of God) These seeds are meant to come forth and blossom and bloom. Aren't you curious about what that is?

Well, recently I said to a client,

“Hey I noticed there is an area of your story that you really don’t want to talk deeply about. Perhaps you're a little reticent to share with others, but can I encourage you?  You have a very, very powerful story.”

She didn't want to and yet as I nudged her, she admitted that she had this sense that this part of her story was her destiny. So I said,

What would happen if you became willing to share your story? How might it change you? Or those that you love?”

She thought about it for a while and she said,

“Well, I absolutely know that I can help them. I know that I could offer a lot of wisdom. I've learned so much from this experience and this obstacle and thing in my life. This thorn in my flesh, if you will, that I've had to navigate for the last 20 years, it's not going away. It's something that God has given me grace for. I know there are so many pitfalls and potholes and things that I could help them avoid, and I could teach and instruct. I know that I could also really empower families and help relationships. I have so many resources. I know I could share that with them, and I could even put it in a book, or I could blog. I could blog about it, or I could even podcast about it.”

As I continued to coach her, the more curious she got and the more willing she was to explore. I just kept nudging her and pretty soon she was like, ‘ I wanna do this. I HAVE to do this.’

See, she wasn't willing to face her fear to identify the potential that was still locked inside her until that moment.

However, with my coaching, before we knew it, she was exploring new territory like a pioneer woman ready to blaze a new trail!

How about you?

Are you ready to be coached to FACE YOUR FEARS?

Cultivate Your Potential Through Writing

With a journal and a piece of paper, you can gain clarity and explore your thoughts. You can do it verbally, but it’s a game changer when you start writing. Because once you start writing, you actually open up parts of your brain that you didn't know you were editing and limiting.

Do you have an idea, a dream, or a goal but have never shared it?  I can help you reach those goals and dreams, but tapping your potential will require you to identify clearly what those goals and dreams are. We can do that together too!

Just be willing to brainstorm. You're dreaming, creating.

You're NOT editing.

Allow yourself to dream on paper.

Face the Fear Monster, the Self-Doubt, and the Imposter Syndrome

If you're going to tap your potential, you're gonna have gain freedom over self-doubt. Imposter syndrome is just a demonic suggestion coming against your mind to tell you that you're not capable or qualified, or that you have a wrong motive for doing what you're doing.

Defeat that lie. Tell it to SHUT UP, because it’s a lie designed to keep you stuck. Once you identify how fear is stopping you, you can face it and overcome it, because if you're going to unlock your potential, you’re going to have to push past self-doubt.

With a supportive community around you  and a professional who knows how to help you identify the roadblocks that may be coming against you and encourage you to new heights, you can win over fear and tap your potential.

So be honest,

What are the areas of your life that need improvement?

Where are you stuck?

Where do you need to grow?

What excuses do you need to be willing to relinquish?

Where do you need to let go of fear and apprehension?

Where do you need to calculate the risk to identify that you can do it?

I’m here to empower you to take courageous steps because you have potential and you don't want to end your life with regret that you didn't reach your potential!

Growth and potential often lie just outside your comfort zone.

To tap into your full potential, you have to be willing to take those calculated risks and embrace new challenges.

Stepping out of your comfort zone allows you to explore unfamiliar territory and learn new skills and discover hidden abilities.

I'm promising you, you have hidden abilities. Yes, you do!

Push yourself to try new things and hard things. It's okay, even if they seem intimidating at first.

Get your brain used to doing some new things and crush it ‘cause you got one unique, beautiful, amazing life to live.

Don't meander in the mediocre. You've got an amazing life.

Go for it!
